Order

How can I place my order?
Please order in our online shop . We are currently unable to accept orders over the phone or by phone, and we are unable to accommodate customer visits .
If you are having trouble navigating the shop or are unable to place an order due to a temporary technical problem, please contact us and tell us your requirements, and we will create your order manually.
How much time should I allow for delivery?
You will receive handmade, custom-made items, not industrial mass-produced items. Please note the production and delivery times .
In general, we can only ship small items such as color samples and leather care products directly from stock .
Our leather goods are individually handcrafted for each order. Therefore, we generally only begin work once payment has been confirmed.

Is there a LederGlück discount or voucher code?
We don't think much of discount codes: If you constantly throw around discounts, you only show that you're always asking for too much.
We don't artificially inflate the prices of our products just to make room for discounts. We prefer to offer you fair prices right from the start. This saves you the hassle of searching for discount codes and gives us more time to focus on what matters most.
On special occasions, such as the launch of new products or an anniversary, we like to send our existing customers and fans who have signed up for LederGlück News a special offer.
In general, it is helpful to know that with our high-quality, regionally sourced materials and elaborate local craftsmanship, there is little scope for price discounts.
This is different with machine-made mass-produced goods from low-wage countries using materials of dubious origin. The unit costs for large quantities are naturally significantly lower than for small runs. These products can be found in the usual large online stores at a fraction of the quality and price, but with a much higher carbon footprint...
We don't want to measure ourselves against that. For us, the hundredth piece requires the same fair wages as the first.
We therefore rely on customers who appreciate the true value of high-quality materials and local craftsmanship with correspondingly short transport routes and are happy to pay a reasonable price for this.

How can I pay securely?
We offer you a wide range of secure payment methods .
You will see all available options once you go from the shopping cart to the checkout page and initiate checkout.
If you are missing another payment method, please let us know via the contact form and we will immediately check whether we can add it for you at short notice.
Will I receive an invoice with VAT?
We are subject to VAT and you will receive a proper invoice with VAT shown in PDF format.
The link to the invoice will be sent by email as soon as our ordering system has received the payment (please also check your spam folder).
What happens after I place my order?
As soon as you have ordered from the shop, we will send you an automated order confirmation (please also check your spam folder).
We'll roll up our sleeves as soon as your payment is received. At that time, you'll receive another email confirming receipt of payment and containing a link to your VAT invoice .
As soon as your order is ready and leaves our leather factory, you will receive a shipping confirmation with your DHL tracking number .
If you have any questions or there is a problem with delivery, you can always reply to one of the emails or contact us separately.
Which shipping service provider delivers?
We currently ship exclusively with DHL, and we've had the best experience with this. Please note the delivery times.
Should there be a delay in the delivery process due to acute staff shortages, strikes, a pandemic, extreme weather or other unforeseeable events, you will usually receive separate information in good time.
Please note that we ship small items such as color samples and leather care products via WARENPOST , for which no details are available in the shipment tracking.
We ship all larger leather goods as DHL PARCELS , and you can track the individual shipment steps online.
In the shipping confirmation for your order you will find your DHL tracking number.

Service

Can I come by in person?
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer customer visits and/or personal pickup of orders.
If this changes, we'll be happy to offer this option. Until then, we ask for your understanding that we will continue to deliver all orders by mail , even within Munich.
Please note the information regarding our production and delivery deadlines. If you're in a hurry, please just contact us and we'll be happy to see what we can do for you.
Are there color samples of the leather used?
Depending on the monitor or display settings, the colors may actually vary slightly.
You are welcome to order color samples in advance.
Can I also have it made to measure?
We hand-cut each piece of leather, so we're happy to work exactly to your specifications .
Since a special format requires some additional coordination during production, we reserve the right to charge the same price that would otherwise apply for the next larger standard format .
For products with different sizes, such as our desk pads , you can simply order the next larger format.
Example: You want a desk pad in a special size of 75 x 50 cm. This will have the same price as our next larger standard size of 80 x 60 cm.
Please reply to your order confirmation immediately after placing your order, including your desired custom size (please also check your spam folder). Alternatively, you can also send us this information directly here using our contact form , including your order number.
The automatic order confirmation immediately after purchase will still show the standard size from the shop, as this is automatically sent by the shop system. However, you will find the corrected measurements on your invoice and delivery note once we have manually entered them into the ordering system.
Please note that we cannot offer a right of return for personalized and custom-made products.
Can I have my product personalized?
We offer personalization options for most products.
For example, you can have initials and logos embossed using a hot-press process with a heavy-duty hand-lever press. You can also have many products decorated with a leather thread stitch.

If you're planning a project involving custom logo embossing, please contact us in advance so we can assess its feasibility. Simply send us an email along with a graphic file (a screenshot of the design is also sufficient) so we can estimate feasibility and costs for you.
Please note that personalized products are excluded from our return policy.
Is there an express service?
We generally do not offer express service. Please note the delivery times.
Since we do not ship mass-produced goods from stock, but rather produce each order by hand only after receipt of payment, we can usually deliver even small items such as color samples and care products within a few days.
In the interest of all customers, we process all other orders chronologically so that no one has to wait longer than others.
If you're in a hurry and need a product at short notice, please contact us in advance. Depending on our order volume, we'll be happy to see what we can do for you!
Where can I see the status of my order?
We have a customer area that you can access after placing an order. There you can view the current status of your order at any time:
You can also easily reorder previously purchased products there. You can also initiate returns from any order.
To access this service, please provide the email address you used when placing your order so that our ordering system can recognize and display the associated orders.
If you have any questions that are not answered there, you can of course write to us at any time using the contact form or send us a separate email.
How is my data protected?
Our website, including our online shop, can only be accessed via a secure TLS/SSL connection . The lock symbol in front of the address bar at the top of your browser, as well as the https:// prefix in the address bar at the top, indicate that a valid SSL certificate is installed.
When you pay, your data is transmitted by our payment service providers via an SSL connection and encrypted with AES-256 .
This means that very high security requirements are met and your data is protected to the best of our knowledge and belief at all times when you use our online service.

How can I return a product?
A fair price and happy customers are often worth going the extra mile for us. If you have any questions, you can contact us via the contact form or email . We will usually get back to you with a suggested solution within 24 hours.
If that's not enough, you can return unused and non-personalized products within 100 days by returning them to us (at your own expense). After inspection, we'll refund the full purchase price. Full details can be found in our Return Policy.

Material & Care

Is the leather free from harmful substances?
This point was very important to us from the very beginning, especially since we originally made leather handle covers for our own children's strollers. Moreover, we ourselves come into direct skin contact with the leather every day in the factory .
In discussions with experienced saddlers and leather traders, we quickly understood the key points to consider when selecting leather:
- Origin of the raw material
- Working conditions in the tannery
- State environmental protection regulations
- Management ethics
We source our leather exclusively from the Allgäu-based leather retailer Ecopell. There, you won't find just empty phrases. Rather, the quality of the leather can be experienced with all the senses, and the rigorous independent audits for regular certifications provide measurable proof of this impression.
The raw material for our leather comes from cattle in Germany and is vegetable tanned , i.e. with purely vegetable tanning agents (chrome-free), in traditional regional companies with short transport routes.

How durable is the leather?
Our leather is generally very robust and will give you years of pleasure. With careful handling and occasional care, our products can even last for generations.
You will receive timeless leather goods that can withstand a lot and will develop their own unique character over time thanks to the patina that is so popular with connoisseurs.
Does the leather have any “faulty” spots?
Unsealed genuine leather naturally exhibits patches where the effects of outdoor life are evident. These are testament to the leather's naturalness and authenticity.
Such marks can come from horn stubs, insect bites, or bushes, for example. Our Allgäu-based leather retailer Ecopell has created a dedicated information page on this topic:

Such traces of life in the wild are particularly noticeable in larger products, such as our popular desk pads. This is usually not cause for concern or complaint. Of course, we remove any truly disturbing spots and damage to the leather during the cutting process and during the final quality assurance process.

Does the leather show signs of wear?
Over time, this natural leather, due to its unsealed surface, will develop a characteristic patina from normal signs of wear such as scratches, moisture and skin oils, which is expected and loved by connoisseurs of genuine leather.
This is usually not a cause for concern or complaint and should be taken into account before purchasing.
If you want a product whose appearance will remain virtually unchanged over time, you might want to look for suppliers who use sealed leathers, or even consider synthetic leather. Even if you'll miss out on the warm, soft feel and wonderful scent of real leather. But unfortunately, you can't have both at the same time ;-)

What is the best way to care for the leather?
Our high-quality genuine leather is robust and a certain patina is normal and desirable over time.
Proper care is therefore not rocket science and you only need to follow a few basic principles to enjoy your LederGlück products for a long time.

Are there also vegan product variants?
Due to our own quality standards, we only use vegetable-tanned genuine leather, which will last a very long time if handled appropriately and cared for carefully.
However, we pay attention to regional origins and only source locally from traders where we can be absolutely sure that the animals were not kept specifically for the leather trade!
We therefore utilize a pure byproduct of German agriculture. Therefore, we see no conflict of conscience with ethically sound farming practices, which is very important to us.
We don't want to work with synthetic leather made from plastic, which is often petroleum-based. Such products are best manufactured by machine and are available very cheaply internationally.
And even the materials now marketed as "vegan leather" unfortunately turn out, upon closer inspection, to be less environmentally friendly than one might think. This is due, on the one hand, to the enormous transport distances around the world and, on the other, to the unfortunately (still) considerable proportion of petroleum-based raw materials used. Often, only a small proportion of such "alternative leather" consists of plant fibers. Thus, to this day, it unfortunately remains mostly a matter of good intentions or questionable marketing promises.
BUT: As soon as something changes and there's actually an alternative that's more sustainable overall than our locally sourced, vegetable-tanned genuine leather, we'll test it immediately. That would be fantastic, of course!
Our top priorities are the sustainability of our products, fair compensation for local craftsmanship, and short transport routes. What thread is used for stitching?
We use the leather yarn Serafil from the venerable AMANN Group (founded in 1854), which has been tried and tested in saddleries for many years.
This special thread meets the highest standards and is ideal for leather seams.
We currently stock this yarn in 20 colors. You can choose it for many products in any combination with the available leather colors.

Who is behind LederGlück?
We are the Holland family. We come from Freiburg im Breisgau, but Munich has been our adopted home since 2007.
Since the beginning of 2013, we have been producing high-quality leather goods using purely local handcraft in Munich.
LederGlück® is a protected trademark and is registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office under registration number 302015210674.
The name symbolizes our promise of performance: leather that makes you happy.
Is LederGlück reputable and reliable?
Since we founded our leather manufacturer in early 2013, we have never disappointed a single customer and have always found suitable solutions, even for special requests.
Our customers attest to their high level of satisfaction with the quality of our products through an exceptionally low return rate and numerous repeat orders.

Where does production take place?
We manufacture all of our products exclusively by hand locally in Munich.

How sustainable is LederGlück really?
A sustainable economy is a matter close to our hearts. We want to be able to look back on our own actions with a clear conscience, together with our children.
That's why we pay close attention to the ecological footprint of our materials and our own work processes and review each year what we can possibly optimize.
Thanks to our purely local, manual work with low energy consumption and short transport routes on foot and by bicycle, we are already operating in an environmentally friendly manner. This has enabled us to once again qualify for participation in the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact program.
